Americans Agree: Other People Lack Job Skills

Never let it be said that Americans lack self-confidence. A survey finds that while 61 percent agree that there’s a “skills gap” in the U.S. workforce, 95 percent think they personally are qualified or overqualified for their own jobs.

“When it comes to the skills gap, Americans clearly believe ‘it’s not me—it’s you,’” says a blog post put up on Wednesday from Udemy, which commissioned the survey of 1,000 U.S. adults. Udemy has an interest in calling attention to the skills gap because its business is hosting online courses in programming and other fields, from yoga to photography.
