Chile Changes Auctions to Accommodate Wind, Solar: El Mercurio

Chile is changing the rules for the next round of government-run power auctions to encourage wind and solar projects, El Mercurio reported.

Starting with the 2016 and 2017 auctions, Chile’s government will allow intermittent suppliers to sell power in hour-long spans, the local newspaper reported Sept. 13, without identifying its sources.

A spokesman for the National Energy Commission wasn’t immediately available to comment on the report.
