Disney to Build ‘Frozen’ Attraction at Epcot ParkLucas Shaw
Walt Disney Co. is bringing the hit movie “Frozen” to its Epcot theme park in Florida.
A new attraction, based on the Arendelle kingdom in “Frozen,” will replace the Maelstrom ride at Epcot’s Norway Pavilion, Disney Parks & Resorts Chairman Thomas Staggs said said today in a blog post.
Disney is adding “Frozen” attractions to a number of its parks. Starting in November, the company will transform Cinderella Castle at its Magic Kingdom near Orlando into an ice palace for the holidays. Several “Frozen” characters will appear in a Christmas parade.
“Frozen,” released in 2013, is the fifth-highest grossing movie of all time, with $1.27 billion in global receipts, according to Box Office Mojo.
Disney, based in Burbank, California, fell less than 1 percent to $89.67 at the close in New York. The shares have advanced 17 percent this year.
