Stacey Snider Said Joining Rupert Murdoch’s Fox Film Unit

Stacey Snider, who is stepping down as chief executive officer of DreamWorks Studios, will join Rupert Murdoch’s Twentieth Century Fox film studio next year, according to people with knowledge of the situation.

Snider, 53, will report to Jim Gianopulos, chairman and chief executive officer of 21st Century Fox Inc.’s Los Angeles-based film unit, said the people, who asked not to be named because her hiring hasn’t been announced.

The appointment will bring Gianopulos and the Fox film unit a veteran executive who once ran Universal’s movie studio. Twentieth Century Fox, which has tallied industry-leading domestic box-office sales of $1.33 billion this year, has about 20 releases on the schedule for 2015, according to Box Office Mojo.

Snider plans to leave Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Studios in January, according to a statement today. Trade publications including the Hollywood Reporter have reported in recent months that Snider was discussing a role at Fox.

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
