All Black Carter Out of Rugby for Four Weeks After Fibula Injury

Dan Carter is out of rugby for at least four weeks and will miss two Tests against Australia after injuring his leg in the Super 15 final on Aug. 2.

Scans revealed a small crack in his upper fibula, which requires rest to heal and about four weeks recovery, his Crusaders franchise said in a message posted on Twitter. Carter had to leave the field during the 32-33 loss to the Waratahs.

The All Blacks play Australia on Aug. 16 and Aug. 23 as the annual Rugby Championship, which also includes Argentina and South Africa, gets under way.

Carter, who has scored a record 1,440 points for the national team, was last month named in the squad for the series after taking a sabbatical and missing three Tests against England in June.
