Kerry to Travel to Cairo Tomorrow to Discuss Gaza Conflict

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Cairo tomorrow to meet with Egyptian and other senior officials on the situation in Gaza, the State Department said in a statement today.

“The United States -– and our international partners –- are deeply concerned about the risk of further escalation, and the loss of more innocent life,” Jen Psaki, the State Department’s spokeswoman, said in the statement. “We believe there should be a cease-fire as soon as possible -– one that restores the cease-fire reached in November of 2012.”

Kerry is working to support Egypt’s initiative to pursue that outcome, Psaki said in the statement.

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
