EON Starts 120 Million-Pound Wood-Fueled Power Plant in U.K.

EON SE, Germany’s biggest utility, started a 120 million-pound ($204 million) facility in northern England that turns waste wood into power.

The 30-megawatt plant in Sheffield will produce enough energy to power as many as 40,000 homes, Dusseldorf-based EON said today in a statement on its website.

It will also provide hot water to a local district heating network scheduled to start working early 2015.

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
