Robusta Coffee Delivery for May Futures Was 7,720 Tons

Robusta coffee delivered against the expired May futures contract on NYSE Liffe in London amounted to 772 contracts, or 7,720 metric tons, according to data published May 31 on the exchange’s website.

That is down from 15,940 tons for the March delivery and compares with 46,670 tons delivered against May futures last year. The May futures expired May 30 at $1,948 a ton, valuing the delivery at about $15 million.

All of the beans delivered were from Vietnam, the world’s biggest grower of the variety used to make instant coffee and espresso, the data showed.

Broker Newedge U.K. Financial Ltd. acted on behalf of clients and was both the biggest seller and biggest buyer, purchasing 761 contracts and delivering 479 lots, exchange data showed. ABN AMRO Clearing Bank NV and Jefferies Bache Ltd. were sellers of 174 and 117 contracts respectively.
