Google’s Eyewear Unit Glass Names Ivy Ross as New LeaderBrian Womack
Google Inc. named a new leader for its computerized eyewear Glass unit as it gears up for more sales.
Ivy Ross will start leading the Internet-connected spectacles unit from May 19, according to a post on the company’s website. She most recently was chief marketing officer at Art.com Inc., following positions at other companies, including fashion-handbag maker Coach Inc. and optical-products provider Bausch & Lomb Inc.
“With your help, I look forward to answering the seemingly simple, but truly audacious questions Glass poses: Can technology be something that frees us up and keeps us in the moment, rather than taking us out of it?” she wrote in a post on the Mountain View, California-based company’s website.
Google, owner of the world’s most popular Internet search engine, is making improvements to Glass as it seeks ways to attract consumers eager to access digital information while on the go. Earlier this week, it said devices will go on sale to anyone in the U.S., after mostly being available only via invitation and referral.
