California Chrome Wins Kentucky Derby for 77-Year-Old Trainer

California Chrome, the favorite, won the 140th running of the Kentucky Derby horse race today.

Jockey Victor Espinoza led the horse to a comfortable victory in an unofficial time of 2 minutes, 03.66 seconds.

Commanding Curve was second and Danza was third in the 1 1/4-mile race at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky, where the official attendance of 164,906 was the second largest in the race’s history.

Art Sherman, 77, became the oldest trainer of a Kentucky Derby winner.
