Northland Closes $219 Million Financing for Canadian Solar Farms

Northland Power Inc., a Canadian developer of renewable-energy projects, closed financing on C$240 million ($219 million) to build five solar projects in Ontario.

The solar farms each have 10 megawatts of capacity and are the final phase of a 130-megawatt ground-mounted solar program, Toronto-based Northland said in a statement. Terms of the 18-year construction loan weren’t disclosed.

The projects are expected to begin generating power this year and in the first half of next year, according to the April 24 statement.
