U.S. Sanctions Don’t Apply to Rosneft, Treasury Official Says

U.S. sanctions against Russian companies and individuals announced today don’t apply to OAO Rosneft, even though its Chief Executive Officer Igor Sechin was subjected to them, according to a Treasury official.

American companies and individuals aren’t forbidden to do business with Rosneft, the world’s largest publicly traded oil producer, according to the official, who requested anonymity to provide additional details on the sanctions announcement.
