Residential Building in Vienna Collapses After Blast

Five people were injured when part of a residential building in Vienna collapsed after a reported explosion in the area, Austrian police said.

Rescuers are searching for more people in the three-story building, with two of the injured being treated in the hospital for minor injuries, Adina Mircioane, a spokeswoman for the Austrian police, said by telephone. Search and rescue dogs are being taken to the scene, she said.

Police don’t know the reason for the incident yet, according to Mircioane. The top two floors of the building were affected, she said.

Austrian broadcaster ORF published pictures on its website showing the affected area and said the building partially caved in following an explosion at 10:10 a.m. local time.
