Benin State-Owned Water Utility’s Output to Jump 66% by November

State-owned Societe National des Eaux du Benin will increase production by more than half with the completion of the second phase of an expansion program by November, Managing Director David Babalola said.

“We’re going to take water production to more than 108,000 cubic meters per day from 65,000 cubic meters per day,” Babalola told reporters yesterday in the city of Abomey-Calavi, north of the commercial capital, Cotonou.

The project, which will cover supplies to Cotonou and surrounding areas, is financed by the European Investment Bank, the European Union, the Netherlands and Germany.
