Golf’s U.S. PGA Tour Names Jay Monahan as Deputy Commissioner

Jay Monahan, who spent the past year as chief marketing officer of the U.S. PGA Tour, was named deputy commissioner of the world’s top professional golf circuit.

Monahan, 43, will work directly with PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem on all aspects of the tour’s business and operations strategy, beginning April 1, the tour said in a statement.

“This step is being taken to further strengthen our organizational structure and enhance our management coordination,” Finchem said.

Monahan joined the tour as executive director of its Players championship and most recently headed up the tour’s corporate marketing and sponsor relations.

Finchem, 66, has been the tour’s commissioner since 1994 and signed a four-year contract extension in 2012 to remain in the role through 2016.
