Nikkei 225 Futures Pare Gains as BOJ Maintains Policy

Japanese stock futures pared gains after the Bank of Japan issued a statement that it kept monetary policy unchanged.

Nikkei 225 Stock Average futures traded at 14,470 in Singapore as of 12:28 p.m. in Tokyo. Before the central bank announcement, the Nikkei 225 added 0.9 percent to 14,526.04 at the trading break in Tokyo. The broader Topix index increased 0.7 percent to 1,200.25.

All 34 economists in a Bloomberg News survey expected the central bank to keep policy on hold. Thirty-five percent of analysts polled in a separate Bloomberg survey forecast the BOJ will expand monetary stimulus in the July-Sept. quarter.
