Hong Kong Air Quality Health Risk ‘Very High’ in CentralJanet Ong and Jasmine Wang
Hong Kong’s Air Quality Health Index recorded ‘very high’ health risk at one of the three roadside-monitoring stations, according to data from the Environmental Protection Department.
The index was 8 on a scale of 1 to 10+ in Central and Causeway Bay and 7 or “high” in Causeway Bay as of 1 p.m. local time. A reading of 8 or above triggers a government advice for people with heart or respiratory illnesses to reduce time of stay outdoors, especially in areas with heavy traffic.
A cross-border ferry carrying more than 80 passengers collided with a container ship in New Territories’ Tuen Mun amid poor visibility in thick fog today, the South China Morning Post reported.
