Police Arrest Two Former Air Zimbabwe CEOs on Fraud Charges

Zimbabwe police yesterday arrested two former Air Zimbabwe (Pvt) Ltd. chief executive officers in connection with insurance fraud, police spokeswoman Charity Charamba said.

“The police can confirm that Peter Chikumba and Innocent Mavhunga have been arrested,” Charamba said in a telephone interview from Harare, the capital, today. She said the arrests follow charges against Grace Nyaradzo Pfumbidzayi, the state-owned airline’s company secretary, who was arrested three days ago.

Police are investigating an insurance fraud case amounting to $1.06 million, Charamba said. She declined to comment further.

Six calls to Air Zimbabwe’s headquarters weren’t answered when Bloomberg News sought comment.

The state-controlled Herald newspaper reported the arrests earlier today.

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
