Natural Gas Rises a 2nd Day as Snow Pummels Eastern U.S.

Natural gas futures surged in New York to the highest price in more than two years as frigid weather stoked heating demand.

Gas gained as much as 4.4 percent as temperatures dropped following a winter storm on the East Coast. The low in New York today may be 8 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 13 Celsius), 19 below normal, according to AccuWeather Inc. in State College, Pennsylvania. MDA Weather Services predicted colder-than-usual readings in the eastern half of the U.S. through Jan. 31.
