Vikings to Hire Bengals Assistant Zimmer as Coach, ESPN Reports

The Minnesota Vikings reached an agreement to hire Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer as their head coach, ESPN reported, citing unidentified people familiar with the situation.

The Vikings fired Leslie Frazier last month after a 5-10-1 season that followed a 10-6 campaign in 2012.

Zimmer, 57, has spent the past five seasons as the Bengals’ defensive coordinator. He’s also held the same role in the National Football League with the Dallas Cowboys and Atlanta Falcons. This would be his first head coaching job.
