Spot Metallurgical Coal in U.S. Falls on Slack European Demand

Spot metallurgical coal in the U.S. fell on lower interest from European buyers, IHS McCloskey’s Energy Publishing Inc. said today.

Low-volatility coal sank $2.25, or 1.6 percent, to $138.75 a ton, the data provider said.

“Spot demand remained weak with little buying interest heard in Europe or Asia,” Energy Publishing wrote.

IHS Energy Publishing says it surveys buyers and sellers of coal to determine pricing.
