Red Sox’s World Series Clincher Draws 18% Ratings Boost on Fox

The World Series-clinching victory by the Boston Red Sox last night drew television ratings in major markets that were 18 percent higher than the final game a year ago.

The Red Sox’s 6-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 of Major League Baseball’s championship series attracted 12.5 percent of viewers in the 56 biggest U.S. media markets, according to figures provided by News Corp.’s Fox network, which broadcast the game.

The final game in 2012, a victory by the San Francisco Giants over the Detroit Tigers, drew a 10.6 big-city rating as it completed a four-game sweep, Fox said.
