U.S. Set to Overtake Russia as Largest Oil, Gas Producer: WSJ

The U.S. is set to overtake Russia as the world’s largest producer of crude and natural gas, according to analysis by Wall Street Journal.

The U.S. produced about 22 million barrels of oil equivalent a day of crude, natural gas and other petroleum liquids in July, according to the WSJ, using data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration and the International Energy Agency. Russia will produce 21.8 million barrels of oil equivalent a day in 2013, the WSJ said, citing Russian government forecasts.
