Joost Luiten Overcomes Jimenez to Win Dutch Golf Open in Playoff

Joost Luiten of the Netherlands defeated Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez in a playoff to win golf’s Dutch Open.

The 27-year-old is the first local to win the tournament in a decade. He gained his second European Tour victory this year by tying Jimenez at 12-under par at the end of regulation play. Luiten got the victory with a par on the first playoff hole after Jimenez’s putt rimmed out.

Luiten gets 300,000 euros ($399,000) with the victory. He won the Lyoness Open in Austria in June. Jimenez, 49, won the Dutch Open 19 years ago.
