Russian Rescuers Save 23 From Novgorod Psychiatric Hospital Fire

Russian rescue squads saved 23 people from a fire that broke out in a mental hospital in the Luka village in the Novgorod Region today, according to the website of the local unit of the Emergencies Ministry.

The fire started at 2:52 a.m. local time, according to the statement. There were 59 patients and an undisclosed number of personnel in the hospital at the time, according to RIA Novosti.

Oleg Voronov, a spokesman for the Emergency Ministry’s Novgorod branch, wasn’t available immediately to comment.
