German Midfielder Hitzlsperger Ends Career, Sueddeutsche Says

Multiple transfers, injuries prompted him to decide against continuing soccer career, former international Thomas Hitzlsperger tells Sueddeutsche Zeitung in a report to be published Wednesday.

The 31-year-old midfielder last had contract with British club FC Everton, newspaper says. He played 52 games for German national team and won the German title with VfB Stuttgart in 2007, Sueddeutsche says.
