Former Brazil President Jose Sarney to Undergo Heart Procedure

Brazilian senator and former president Jose Sarney will undergo a coronary catheterization on Aug. 20 at Sirio-Libanes hospital in Sao Paulo, where he’s currently being treated, according to a statement on the hospital’s website.

Sarney, 83, underwent a heart exam yesterday morning that showed a “change in the contractility in the inferior wall,” according to the statement.

Sarney was hospitalized July 31 for a pulmonary infection.
