Free-Agent Tight End Kellen Winslow Jr. Signs Contract With JetsNancy Kercheval
Free-agent tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. signed with the New York Jets after a three-day practice session with the National Football League team.
Winslow, 29, the Cleveland Browns’ first-round selection in the 2004 NFL Draft, has caught 438 passes for 4,848 yards and 23 touchdowns. He was with the Browns until 2008, when he joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for three seasons. Last year, he played one game with the New England Patriots.
“Feels great to be a Jet!” Winslow said on his Twitter site. “I’m excited to help this team any way I can.”
Winslow, the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end Kellen Winslow, joins returning starter Jeff Cumberland, second-year players Konrad Reuland and Hayden Smith and undrafted rookies Chris Pantale and Mike Shanahan at the tight end position.
