Japanese Bought Net 186.4 Billion Yen Overseas Debt Last Week

Japanese investors were net buyers of foreign bonds during the week ended May 10 according to figures based on reports from designated major investors released by the Ministry of Finance in Tokyo.

Japanese investors bought 186.4 billion yen ($1.8 billion) in overseas bonds and notes, bought 19.2 billion yen in overseas stocks and bought 0.1 billion yen in overseas short term securities. That results in a total net purchase of 205.7 billion yen.

Foreign investors sold 413.5 billion yen in Japanese bonds, bought 878.8 billion yen in stocks, and bought 115.1 billion yen in short term securities, resulting in a total net purchase of 580.5 billion yen.
