Capitals Beat Rangers in Overtime for 2-0 Lead in NHL Playoffs

The Washington Capitals beat the New York Rangers 1-0 in overtime to take a two-games-to-none lead in their National Hockey League playoff series.

Mike Green scored a power-play goal eight minutes into overtime at the Verizon Center in Washington. The score came with New York’s Ryan McDonagh serving a delay-of-game penalty for shooting the puck over the glass.

New York goaltender Henrik Lundqvist made 37 saves, while Washington’s Braden Holtby stopped 24 shots.

Game 3 of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference series will be played at New York’s Madison Square Garden in two days.
