Square Hires Ex-Google Global Sales Executive Brougher

Square Inc. has hired former Google Inc. executive Francoise Brougher as the company’s business lead, overseeing areas including customer support, partnerships and international expansion.

Brougher previously served as a vice president of sales and operations at Google, focused on small and medium-sized businesses, San Francisco-based Square said today in an e-mailed statement. Before that, she was vice president of business strategy at Charles Schwab & Co.

Founded by Twitter Inc. Chairman and co-founder Jack Dorsey, Square introduced a stamp-size credit-card reader in 2009 that can be used with smartphones and tablets.

Juniper Research estimates that the market for mobile payments for physical goods may top $170 billion in transactions by 2015, up from about $60 billion in 2011.

Before it's here, it's on the Bloomberg Terminal.
