Saracens, Clermont Advance to Semifinals of Rugby’s Heineken CupBob Bensch
Sarcens beat Ulster 27-16 and Clermont Auvergne beat Montpellier 36-14 to advance to the semifinals of rugby union’s Heineken Cup.
Chris Ashton and Will Fraser scored tries and Owen Farrell kicked 17 points to lead Saracens to the home win at Twickenham Stadium in London. Saracens next plays the winner of tomorrow’s game between Toulon or Leicester Tigers.
Wesley Fofana, Aurelien Rougerie, Sitiveni Sivivatu, Lee Byrne and Napolini Nalaga all scored tries in Clermont’s home rout in France. Clermont will face Harlequins or Munster, who also play tomorrow, in the last four.
The semifinals will be played April 27 or 28, with the final of European rugby’s top club competition schedule for May 18 in Dublin.
