EU Needs ‘Full-Fledged’ Financial Union, Portugal’s Gaspar Says

The European Union needs a “full-fledged” financial union, Portugal’s Finance Minister Vitor Gaspar said.

The lack of a common system leads to the situation in which the transmission of monetary policy doesn’t work appropriately, Gaspar said today in a presentation at the Brookings Institution in Washington.
