Aluminum Surplus Was 419,400 Tons Last Year, WBMS Says

Aluminum production exceeded demand by 419,400 metric tons last year, compared with a surplus of 1.887 million tons for 2011, the World Bureau of Metal Statistics said.

Copper’s shortage was 106,000 tons last year following a surplus of 244,000 tons in 2011, the Ware, England-based WBMS said in an e-mailed statement today.
