Japanese Bought Net 764.4 Billion Yen Overseas Debt Last Week

Japanese investors were net buyers of foreign bonds during the week ended March 8 according to figures based on reports from designated major investors released by the Ministry of Finance in Tokyo.

Japanese investors bought 764.4 billion yen ($8.0 billion) in overseas bonds and notes, sold 269.6 billion yen in overseas stocks and sold 48.3 billion yen in overseas short term securities. That results in a total net purchase of 446.4 billion yen.

Foreign investors sold 838.2 billion yen in Japanese bonds, bought 1121.9 billion yen in stocks, and bought 1886.2 billion yen in short term securities, resulting in a total net purchase of 2170 billion yen.
