Blackhawks Defeat Blue Jackets to Extend NHL Record to 21 Games

Brent Seabrook scored an overtime goal as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-3 and extended their National Hockey League season-opening point streak to a record 21 games.

The Blackhawks are 18-0-3 for 39 points to lead the league, while the Blue Jackets are 5-12-4 for a league-low 14 points.

Vinny Prospal gave the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead 31 seconds into the first period, while Viktor Stalberg tied the score for the Blackhawks at United Center in Chicago.

Artem Anisimov scored to put Columbus ahead by one in the second period before Patrick Sharp and Bryan Bickell scored goals 59 seconds apart for the Blackhawks.

The Blue Jackets’ Ryan Johansen forced the game into overtime in the third period.
