Villanova Upsets Louisville; Kansas Remains Unbeaten in Big 12Nancy Kercheval
Villanova University toppled the fifth-ranked University of Louisville 73-64 while No. 3 Kansas defeated 11th-ranked Kansas State 59-55 in college basketball.
Ryan Arcidiacono scored 15 points and Mouphtaou Yarou, Darrun Hilliard and JayVaughn Pinkston each contributed 11 points last night for the Wildcats at the Pavilion in Villanova, Pennsylvania.
Villanova (12-7, 3-3 Big East) had a 30-28 halftime lead and outscored the Cardinals 43-36 in the second half.
Wayne Blackshear had a game-high 17 points for Louisville (16-3, 4-2 Big East), which has lost two straight games, and Peyton Siva scored 15 points.
At Fred Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan, Kansas, Travis Releford scored 12 points to help the Jayhawks (17-1) remain undefeated through five Big 12 Conference games. Ben McLemore added 11 points and Jeff Withey had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Kansas.
Shane Southwell scored 19 points, Rodney McGruder added 13 and Angel Rodriguez had 12 points for Kansas State (15-3), which fell to 4-1 in the Big 12.
