Rain Improves Drought Conditions in Contiguous 48 States

Rain last week improved drought conditions across the contiguous 48 states, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor.

Drought covers about 58.9 percent of the 48 states, down from 60.3 percent last week, according to the monitor in Lincoln, Nebraska. Areas in the grip of the most-severe drought dropped to 6.3 percent from 6.7 percent a week ago.
