Gazprom Plans $1.8 Million Bash After 2008 Deep Purple Concert

OAO Gazprom, the world’s biggest natural-gas producer, plans to spend 55.7 million rubles ($1.8 million) on festivities in the Kremlin to mark its 20th anniversary early next year.

Gazprom’s celebrations will include a concert that will be broadcast on national television and a formal reception, according to a statement on the Moscow-based company’s website. Tina Turner and Deep Purple played at the company’s 15th anniversary party in February 2008, and President Vladimir Putin congratulated the state-run gas export monopoly with a speech.
