RACE TO WATCH: The U.S. Senate race in Ohio features Democrat Sherrod Brown, seeking a second term, who says he has been “a champion of middle-class families.” Brown is expected to face either Republican Josh Mandel, a former U.S. Marine and state legislator elected Ohio treasurer last year, or Republican former state Senator Kevin Coughlin. Brown had a 52 percent job approval rating in a Quinnipiac University poll conducted Sept. 20-25. Mandel raised $2.1 million in the second quarter, compared with $1.5 million for Brown, according to Federal Election Commission reports.
