Raw-Sugar Futures Surge on Signs Brazil Production May Decline

Sugar jumped, capping the biggest two-day gain since October, on concern that the cane crop will be smaller than forecast in Brazil, the world’s largest producer and exporter.

The Brazilian unit of commodity broker ICAP Plc said prices will reach a record as the cane output in Center South, the main producing region, may be about 520 million metric tons. That compares with the 533.5 million tons estimated by Unica, an industry group. Prices have jumped 41 percent since the end of April on supply concerns.
