Northeast States Raise Minimum Bid in Carbon Auction to $1.89

A cap-and-trade program for power plants in the U.S. Northeast will raise the minimum bid for carbon dioxide permits sold at auction by 3 cents to $1.89 each.

The minimum allowable bid will be “adjusted” for the next permit auction, to be held March 9, to keep track with the U.S. Department of Labor’s Consumer Price Index, which measures inflation, the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative said in a statement on its website.
