Copper production in Zambia, Africa’s biggest producer of the metal, will probably exceed 740,000 metric tons this year, Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said.
New projects and foreign investment have helped increase copper output to above levels achieved in the early 1970s, Musokotwane said in an interview on Jan. 8 in Lusaka, the capital.
