Pakistan Seen Undermining NATO’s Afghan Campaign, FT Reports

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s military campaign in Afghanistan is “on a bullet train to failure” unless the U.S. puts more pressure on Pakistan to deny sanctuary to Taliban fighters, according to Bill Harris, who stepped down last month at the top American official in Kandahar, the Financial Times reported.

In an interview with the newspaper, Harris referred to the continuing flow of U.S. aid to Pakistan, despite the covert support of Afghan insurgents by Pakistan’s security forces, and said it’s “past time for some absolute straight talk,” the newspaper reported.
