South African Equities: Alert Steel, Brait, Naspers, Northam

South Africa’s FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index rose for a second day, advancing 99.12, or 0.3 percent, to 29,747.11 at the 5 p.m. close in Johannesburg. The following were among the most active stocks in the South African market today.

Alert Steel Holdings Ltd. (AET SJ), a seller of steel, building and hardware materials, fell 7 cents, or 22 percent, to 25 cents, the lowest level since Feb. 18. The Pretoria-based company said it expects a loss of 39.8 cents per share for the year ended June 30, according to a stock exchange filing.
