Brazil’s three largest construction companies will sign an agreement with the country’s government next week to build 50 percent of the Belo Monte hydroelectric dam project in the Amazon, O Estado de Sao Paulo reported.
Odebrecht SA, Camargo Correa SA and Andrade Gutierrez SA, and eight other builders may sign a pre-agreement Aug. 26, the newspaper said. The cost of the project has been cut to 15 billion reais ($8.5 billion) from 19 billion reais, the Sao Paulo-based newspaper said without citing anyone.
