Testing the Professional Waters

I love tests. I should rephrase that to say that I love tests where I understand the material being tested. I certainly don't mean to imply that I'm the "raise your hand at the end of class and ask for extra homework kind of person"—far from it. But I see the value in tests and I usually fare pretty well when I understand what is being tested. The rough definition of a test is a critical evaluation designed to determine knowledge or ability. So if you have the knowledge or ability, tests should be challenging, but they certainly aren't something to fear.
