The Los Angeles Times endorsed Democrat Barack Obama, the first time the newspaper has supported a candidate in a U.S. presidential race since 1972, when it backed Richard Nixon.
An editorial supporting Obama is posted on the Los Angeles Times Web site and will appear in the Sunday print edition, the Tribune Co. newspaper said today in a statement.
