Health Benefit Managers Choose Obama PlanBy
Corporations regularly complain about the high cost of providing health insurance to their employees. But in a story she wrote for BusinessWeek, Cathy Arnst says that, surprisingly, a survey of corporate benefits managers finds that by a wide margin they expect a more negative impact on their work force from Sen. John McCain’s proposed repeal of the tax exclusion for employer–based health coverage than from Sen. Barack Obama’s health care reform proposal, which would compel all employers to offer health insurance. It seems companies would rather offer health benefits directly rather than pay the government to do it.
