Showdown Between Baltic Airlines

As Lithuania's carrier announces its goal of regional domination, Latvia's airBaltic comfortably watches its business take flight

Last month, officials of flyLAL-Lithuanian Airlines, the clumsily named national carrier, used a lot of verbiage during a veiled attack on airBaltic, its Latvian competitor.

Hinting that its rival had introduced "hidden" baggage charges, flyLAL promised that it would soon offer the cheapest flights out of Riga, turning into "the number one airline in the markets of the Baltic countries."
